With the update to the Turkish Building Earthquake Code, performance-based design becomes mandatory for high-rise buildings and buildings of critical use. The change adds a new review step to project approval processes.
What Is Changing?
- Mandatory nonlinear analysis for high-rise buildings
- A more detailed set of parameters in soil survey reports
- A broader scope for independent design review
The new rules will apply to projects applying for a building permit. Projects still in design are advised to have their structural calculations reviewed against the current code.
